THE RIVER was showing its bones in May, with sport at a standstill on the Federation beats. Occasional salmon and sea-trout have been slipping into the lower pools, but only in small numbers. If the Coquet gets some June spates, fishing will improve, with salmon caught on a falling water. Sea-trout fishing will be best at night. Brown trout fishing remains slow, with no sizeable trout reported. – DAVID CARRICK.
