Lennel, River Tweed

Trout & Salmon (UK) - - Fishing Reports -

Lennel, on the lower Tweed at Coldstream, is generally only fished by members of the syndicate and their guests. The beat fishes four rods and employs four boatmen. There is two and a half miles of Scottish bank-fishing with seven named pools. The top pool is shared with Cornhill and the bottom two with Tillmouth. Members are fly-fishers first and foremost, and subscribe to the principles of Tweed Fly-fishing Preferred (TFP) whereby fly-fishing is obligatory except in very adverse conditions. More than 80 per cent of salmon/grilse are returned. Lennel is regarded as a low-water beat but has some pools that fish well in higher water from a boat. Day-tickets for salmon cost from £100.
