Trout & Salmon (UK) - - Fishing Reports -

RIVER FISHING throughout May has been at a standstill on all three rivers. There was a small rise in levels towards the middle of the month, but this soon disappeared. There have been no reports of migratory fish showing in the Menai Straits, though this is not unusual in such dry weather as they tend lie out in the deeper water of Caernarfon Bay. Although the rivers were a dead loss, both Cwellyn and Nantlle lakes have been, and still are, providing excellent fishing. Padarn is also improving rapidly: the brown trout fishing is showing encouraging improvement but the downside is – so far as I’m concerned – that the perch fishing is also proving to be as good, if not better. I’ve seen some very nice specimens coming to the troll. – HUW P. HUGHES.
