TROUT FISHING has been quite good, with sport on dry-flies and Spider patterns. I have heard of no salmon or sea-trout catches, but if we get a few good spates fish may start running. The Northumbrian Water wild reservoirs have been producing some good sport. Both Cow Green and Selset are well drawn down, while Balderhead has held a good level. I fished Cow Green in mid-may and after a quiet morning fish began to rise well to a hatch of buzzers. A total of 33 trout were landed from noon to 3 pm. The effective flies were Bibio, Kate Mclaren, Black and Peacock Spider and Zulu. Colin Storey, my fishing companion, had eight to 12 inches on similar flies. These fish were caught in the top bay near the incoming infant Tees and off the banks of Zulu Point. – D. N. C.
