AFTER MAY’S generous bounty, April – for the most part – was a challenge, with pitifully little water. The first week (zero) was blank and the second week (between 6 in and 1 in) produced two – 6 lb to John Corlett in Upper House and 9 lb to Eddie Arrowsmith in Upper House. The third week (1 in) yielded one at 8 lb in Upper House to Richard Esp. The fourth week (between 9 in and 5 in) was by comparison prolific with 12 in the book – five (best 10 lb in Neil’s) to Dr Charles Ebril, three to Alasdair Reynolds, a brace (better 9 lb in the Round) to Charles Jesper and a brace (better 11 lb in Upper House) to Professor Ian Ellis. – ANDREW GRAHAM-STEWART.
