Hook Size 12-14 dry-fly Body Dark brown seal fur mix Rib Fluorescent yellow UTC wire (small) Wing Dark coastal deer hair Thorax Dirty-yellow seal fur mix Head hackle Dark furnace cock The Welshman’s Button is a prolific insect on some Irish loughs and can produce lively sport during the day and evenings from late spring to early autumn with the peak hatches in June/july. The trout really “dig” the fly and this pattern works extremely well. Fish it singly or as part of a team. Again, clip the bottom of the hackle.
