Fulling Mill has been supplying flies to fishers for decades and tests materials on an industrial scale. It claims that its Glass UV Resin isn't tacky (slightly sticky) when set – unlike many rival products. We can support this claim: after 20 seconds’ exposure to UV light the finish is crystal clear, hard and not tacky. This is impressive, but there is a compromise: the resin is not thin and as such it is better suited to bigger flies, such as fry patterns, saltwater baitfish or pike flies. An applicator brush in the lid would be welcome to give greater control over the amount of resin you can apply, enabling you to spread it more thinly. Instead, you must use a less-effective dubbing needle. Glass UV resin comes in a 20g bottle, with a nozzle and lid. Contact: Fulling Mill stockists. Tel: 01293 778 600.
