Trout & Salmon (UK) - - READING RIVERS -

4 Over the years I’ve noticed that salmon respond far better to a fly fished quickly. Many times, I have observed the path of a fly from a higher position and while my partner has thought he's fishing a fast fly, it has drifted slowly and unattractively. I’ve thought: if I were a salmon I wouldn’t take that. So, forget your old habits and fish a faster fly. Mend downstream and strip the line during the drift. Even in spring, when the old rule was “deep and slow”, I now fish “deep and fast”.
