Trout & Salmon (UK) - - Fishing Reports - PHILIP ELLIS.

JULY AND August were very quiet on the salmon front with a few fish seen but nothing much doing. With temperatures into the 30s and bright blue skies it wasn’t fair to try and fish for them. Even the trout fishing died off. At time of writing (August 24) we have had a couple of decent lifts and Michael Charlton Weedy went on to land a lovely 10lb fish from the Upper River. There were also fish hooked, played and lost lower down. There are reports of significant numbers of fish moving through the counter. The River Swale has had a decent run and a well-known weir has been a hotspot for taking photographs and videos of jumping fish. We have been given the go-ahead from the head of the EA, subject to further consultation, with a view to getting it in place for next season. I must stress it has to go to consultation but it is the furthest we have got with this issue -
