Der­byshire-based Don Stazicker is a highly ex­pe­ri­enced trout fish­er­man, fly-tyer and in­struc­tor. He is widely trav­elled and has guided ex­ten­sively in the USA. Move the rod butt di­rectly away from the fish. Af­ter the strike, arms are as far apart as pos­si­ble. Ro­tate shoul­ders. Pull hard with the line hand at 1800 to the move­ment of the rod butt, grip­ping line as you do so.
