Episode seven OUR BLUE PLANET
THE SOBERING FINALE brings to light the human threat to our oceans –like the eight million tonnes of plastic that ends up in the seas every year.
‘Tragedies happen because of plastic,’ says Attenborough. ‘We see albatrosses gathering food for their young, and what comes out for the chick, you think it is going to be squid, but it’s plastic so the chick starves. I hope there will be scientific advances that help us to destroy plastic without any side effects.’
