twins ron­nie and reg­gie Kray ran feared crime syn­di­cate the Firm in Lon­don’s east end in the 1950s and 1960s. they were in­volved in pro­tec­tion rack­ets, armed rob­beries and ar­son but, as night­club own­ers, they also mixed with show­biz stars and politi­cians. In 1969 they were con­victed of the mur­der of two other crim­i­nals, Jack ‘the Hat’ Mcvi­tie and Ge­orge cor­nell, and given life sen­tences. ron­nie died in Broad­moor in 1995, aged 61. reg­gie was re­leased from prison on com­pas­sion­ate grounds in au­gust 2000 and died from

cancer weeks later, aged 66.
