Sherlock’s new villain
toby Jones cast as the detective’s most ‘horrific’ foe yet
Filming has finally finished on three new episodes of Sherlock, which will air early next year. Mark Gatiss – who co-writes the series with steven Moffat – is so pleased, he’s described them as the
‘best we’ve done’.
Benedict cumberbatch, who has won worldwide acclaim as the great detective, says a new baddie – played by toby Jones – is central to the drama.
He’s believed to be a modern take on culverton smith, the villain from sir arthur conan doyle’s 1913 story, The Adventure of the Dying Detective.
although the identity of the deadly nemesis hasn’t officially been confirmed, steven reveals that the character will be ‘the darkest villain we’ve had’. He adds:
‘this guy is the purest evil. sherlock is actually appalled by him… he’s horrific.’
