On an in­dus­trial es­tate out­side Cardiff, TV Times is in a seem­ingly in­nocu­ous and rather non­de­script office – and im­me­di­ately thrown head-first into a hot-bed of sim­mer­ing in­trigue…

One of the em­ploy­ees, head held down, does a walk of shame past her col­leagues’ desks while they gos­sip to each other.

Has she been caught hav­ing a sor­did li­ai­son? Has she com­mit­ted

a ter­ri­ble crime? Ab­so­lutely any­thing is pos­si­ble, as we’re on set watch­ing a scene be­ing filmed for the sec­ond series of BBC1’S ac­claimed drama Or­di­nary Lies.

While the hit first run, star­ring Jo Joyner and Max Beesley, ex­plored tor­rid se­crets at a War­ring­ton car deal­er­ship, the sec­ond series, which has a whole new cast, is set in the call cen­tre and ware­house of Coop­ers, a sports sales com­pany in Wales.

Each episode again places a dif­fer­ent em­ployee un­der the spot­light, from man­ag­ing direc­tor Jenna (An­gela Grif­fin) to ware­house worker Fletch (Matt Di An­gelo), who all have a se­cret to hide, or make a de­ci­sion with far-reach­ing con­se­quences.

‘It’s such a great premise,’ says An­gela, 40, as we chat. ‘Ev­ery­one has a se­cret or some­thing they’ve lied about. It’s such an in­ter­est­ing idea when some­one makes a choice not to tell the truth and then there’s a snow­ball ef­fect.’

An­gela, most re­cently seen in Brief En­coun­ters, jumped at the chance to join the series.
