Ready to rule the world!
tokio Myers tells TV Times News what’s next for him after his Britain’s Got Talent triumph
hi tokio – many congratulations on winning Britain’s Got Talent! how did you feel when ant and dec announced you’d won?
I felt ecstatic, relieved and just disbelief as well. I felt an absolutely overwhelming sense of gratitude and accomplishment of, ‘Wow, we did it! We absolutely nailed it’. Since winning BGT, I feel like every day has been my birthday. People have been so supportive and showing so much love. I’m just very thankful.
What have you got in store for the royal Variety Performance? I’m really excited about it and to be given the opportunity to perform in front of the Royal family is just incredible. It’s everyone’s dream.
‘I’ve got lots of time between now and then to be writing, producing and coming up with compositions, so I think that there will be an element of surprise. Whatever it is, it’s going to be energetic, fun and something different for the Royal family, something that they’ll definitely enjoy.
is there anything that you would like to say to the judges who put you through to the semi-finals and to the viewers who voted?
A massive, massive, massive thank you and appreciation for taking your time to make that call or get the app and press that button for me. I feel like I’m going to make all those people proud and I’m excited to take them all with me in the next chapter of my life.
Where would you like your career to go from here? is there anyone you’d love to work with?
I want to be busy, touring, collaborating and inspiring. I want to reach as many people around the world as possible, inspire as many people as possible and be myself inspired by as many people as possible. And bring all of the energy and focus back into music.
There’s a list of artists I would love to work with, from Frank Ocean and Skepta, to The Weeknd and Adele, and to Nigel Kennedy and Lang Lang or maybe a ballet dancer. I’d like to work with Ed Sheeran as I think we would complement each other well.
