Whatever your views on controversial pop icon Michael Jackson, this drama offers a poignant insight into his increasingly chaotic final years. Seen through the sympathetic eyes of his trusted bodyguard Bill Whitfield (The Wire’s Chad Coleman), it charts Michael’s eccentric but loving home life with his children – Paris, Prince and Blanket – following their return to the US from Bahrain, where they’d been staying after his acquittal from child-molestation charges. There’s a sad inevitability as the star (played to perfection by Michael Jackson impersonator Navi) is shown struggling to maintain his privacy, facing financial ruin, and meeting Dr Conrad Murray, who later served two years in prison after supplying the singer with a lethal dose of medication to treat his insomnia.
