on the sur­face, life couldn’t be bet­ter for Man­hat­tan ther­a­pist Jean (Naomi Watts). With a good ca­reer, a rich hus­band (Billy Crudup), and an adorable daugh­ter, Jean ap­pears to be liv­ing the Amer­i­can dream – but she’s bored. In a bid to spice up her life, Jean starts tak­ing an in­ter­est in her pa­tients’ com­plex lives, and is soon ob­ses­sively engi­neer­ing a re­la­tion­ship with singer Sidney (So­phie Cook­son), a pa­tient’s ex. Di­rected by 50 Shades of Grey’s Sam Tay­lor-john­son, the se­ries fol­lows Jean as she strays ever fur­ther into dan­ger­ous ter­ri­tory – pro­fes­sion­ally and per­son­ally. What will the con­se­quences be?
