What Sue Johnston and Robson Green are up to next...
sue Johnston and robson green head an all-star cast as filming begins on new BBC1 drama series Age Before Beauty
Fans of Amanda Holden and Sarah Parish’s hit early Noughties hair salon drama Cutting It should already be booking an appointment for BBC1 drama Age Before Beauty.
As you can see from our snaps, filming has just begun on the sixpart saga, penned by Poldark writer Debbie Horsfield, who also created Cutting It. At its heart is a dysfunctional family rife with sibling rivalries and unconventional parenting through the generations.
The story centres on homemaker
Bel (Mr Selfridge star Polly Walker), who’s been married for 25 years and has spent most of it looking after her twins. She’s begged by her brother-inlaw and best mate Teddy (Grantchester star Robson Green, looking smart here in a blue-and-white checked shirt) to help save the family business – a rundown beauty salon in Manchester.
On the payroll are Bel’s mum, Northern soul fanatic and spray tan technician Ivy-rae (The Royle Family and Downton Abbey star Sue Johnston – we’re loving the gold trainers!) and her sisters, nail-technician and personal stylist
Leanne (The Level’s Kelly Harrison), cosmetic surgery addict Heidi (The Five’s Vicky Myers) and tattooist Tina (Three Girls star Lisa Riley, looking fab as she channels the rock-star look with braided hair!).
Meanwhile, Bel’s husband Wesley is played by Cutting It star James Murray.
We hope it hits our screens soon!
