Susan Sarandon’s best role in years…
Writer-director Lorene Scafaria’s own mother was the inspiration for this entertaining comedy-drama starring a wonderful Susan Sarandon. Her newly widowed character has set up home near her unmarried screenwriter daughter (Rose Byrne) and bombards her with phone calls, texts and unsolicited dating advice. But the busybodying springs from a warm-hearted nature, and Sarandon gives us an uplifting, uncloying portrayal of goodness.
