We love this first official photo of the First and Twelfth Time Lords, played by David Bradley and Peter Capaldi, as they team up for a double-doctor adventure in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special.
Fans of the BBC1 sci-fi drama were left in a spin after the recent series 10 finale. The cliffhanger ending saw current Doctor Peter Capaldi fatally shot by a Mondasian Cyberman and start to regenerate.
But as he vowed not to change into a new incarnation this time, out stepped the first Time Lord, as David took on the role made famous by the late William Hartnell in the Sixties.
Broadchurch star David has already played both Hartnell and the First Doctor in An Adventure in Space and Time, BBC2’S 2013 biopic about the show’s origins.
The episode is Peter’s farewell to the series after three years and will feature the debut of the next Doctor.
