an all-star cast leads the way in this inspiring tale

A rousing message of empathy and solidarity is at the centre of this irresistibly entertaining comedy-drama. It tells the true story of the unlikely alliance forged at the height of the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike between a group of gay and lesbian activists and the inhabitants of a small mining village in South Wales. Cue plenty of broad culture-clash humour. But there is heart and soul here, too, not least in the warm, sympathetic performances from the likes of Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton among the Welsh, and Dominic West and Ben Schnetzer among their gay supporters.
