Horrible Histories

Ridiculous Romantics looks at the way people have found love throughout history, from conjuring up a demon in medieval Bavaria to Casanova’s conquests (illustrated by a typical song: ‘He’s well lush and he know it’). But the star of this show is Henry VIII, who returns – and returns, and returns – to find a wife at the Historical First Dates restaurant (even maître d’ Fred Sirieix gives up in despair). Horrible Histories continues to be entertaining for kids and adults alike, with good jokes and songs – and, yes, that’s Game of Thrones’ Gemma Whelan as Anne Boleyn and Sanjeev Bhaskar as Mughal emperor Shah Jahan!
