Emma on the ropes

She admits to Finn that she was on the motorway bridge when James died

TV Times - - Soaps -

It’s sometimes difficult to spot when Emma Barton is behaving oddly, as her default setting isn’t far from full-on nuttiness. But when Finn spots her up at Wylie’s shoving a note into her pocket, he senses that his mum is hiding something – and so begins a chain of events that leads Emma to open up about what really happened on the day James died.

Back at home, Finn searches his mum’s pockets and finds the crumpled paper, which has been ripped in two and reads: ‘I do not.’

It is, of course, the message James wrote when Emma went tonto and held him captive.

A shaken Emma admits that it’s James’ writing and, as she breaks down, Finn stops himself from probing further. But there’s no holding back when he later finds out that his mum got rid of her wedding dress. ‘Finn knows the history of that dress,’ says Joe Gill, who plays him. ‘He thinks it’s the one thing his mum would keep.’

As Finn grills the nurse, Emma admits she got rid of the gown because she had found out about James and Moira. Smelling a rat, Finn demands to know the full timeline of when she found out about the fling, and a row ensues in which Emma admits she was on the bridge when James was killed. Is it now just a matter of time before Finn discovers that she had a hand in his father’s death?
