‘These are wounds that will never heal,’ says Anita Rani in the concluding part of this poignant documentary. Anita and her mum Lakhbir visit her Sikh grandfather’s village, in what is now Pakistan, where his first wife, children and father died after being attacked by Muslims. As they meet those who knew the family and learn what happened, emotions are close to the surface. Among the other British Asians continuing to explore their own Partition stories are Sameer Butt, retracing the journey his Muslim grandfather took when his family fled to Pakistan, and Binita Kane, whose Hindu father fled across Bengal.

Along with her mother, Anita meets a friend of her grandfather
