Steven exposed?

Jane makes a shock discovery after finding out the truth about her stepson’s ‘tumour’

TV Times - - Soaps -

There has been a certain joy in watching Steven Beale squirm for England over his brain tumour lie, and there are more of the same pained expressions from the lad when he shares his ‘bad news’ with Jane and Ian.

But as Steven does his damnedest to look like he’s on his last legs, is his lie about to be exposed?

Steven is forced by Lauren to tell all to the family. She’s buckling under the strain of keeping his ‘diagnosis’ a secret, and it all gets too much when the register office calls to say that the date for their wedding needs to be put back – with a dying fiancé on her hands, time is of the essence! After confiding in Abi that Steven is ill (who knows he is no such thing), she tells Steven that she can’t support him on her own, and it’s time Jane and Ian knew the truth.

The couple have just got off the phone to killer Bobby when Lauren and a guilty Steven break the news of his ‘illness’. Ian is beside himself and, as he tells Jane that he can’t cope with losing another child after Lucy’s murder, she takes matters into her own hands.

‘Jane researches alternative treatments for Steven in America,’ reveals our Eastenders mole. ‘Steven’s panicstricken and orders her to stop, claiming he doesn’t want to be given false hope.’

But just as Steven thinks he’s been granted a temporary reprieve, Jane makes a startling discovery while he and Ian are out, and senses that Steven may, indeed, be a bit ill in the head – just not in the way he’s claiming. Eager for answers, she awaits his return. Will Steven finally admit that he’s made the whole thing up?

Truth and lies: Lauren can no longer keep her secret from Abi
