Make or break

It’s crunch time for Mick and Linda. Will they reunite or go their separate ways?

It’s not just the ales and snacks that have changed beyond recognition in The Queen Vic this year. Mick Carter has mysteriously metamorphosed from a loyal, loving husband who worships the ground his wife walks on, to a naughty philanderer.

The result was a near-affair with former daughter-in-law Whitney, which has put his marriage to Linda in crisis. As he and the missus have a deep and meaningful on the pub roof this week, can they sort out their relationship?

Though Mick has done his best to make amends with ‘L’, his efforts have fallen flat, and she’s still giving him the cold shoulder. Things go from bad to worse when Shirley sticks her beak in, and invites Woody and Whitney to lunch. She thinks that if the two couples are stuck in a room together, Linda will see for herself that Mick has moved on from Whit. But, inevitably, it’s a complete disaster.

‘Linda gets drunk and flirts with Woody to get back at Mick, which is a bit cringeworthy,’ reveals our Eastenders mole. ‘As she keeps on drinking, her anger bubbles to the surface and she tells Woody what Whitney and Mick got up to.’

Nobody has an appetite for pudding after that, and as Whitney and Woody head off, Mick and Linda have another ‘rar’, in which Linda admits she’s not sure she can get over his indiscretion.

Mick’s at a loss over what to do, and when he and Linda later end up on the pub roof, he realises they’re in trouble. As his tearful wife gazes out across the Square, he tells her that if she can’t move on, their marriage could be over.

Linda is in no mood for an ultimatum, and Mick’s attempt to apologise with a special gift falls far wide of the mark. At her wits’ end, she heads across the Square to have a frank talk with Sharon.

If anyone knows about forgiveness, it’s Shazza – how many times has Phil kept secrets from her? As Linda opens up about her woes, can Sharon persuade her to fight for her man?
