Royal pro­tec­tion of­fi­cer Gra­ham craker hoped that Wil­liam and Harry would be re­as­sured that he was rid­ing in the hearse tak­ing Diana’s body to the Spencer es­tate. ‘My wife died in 1991 and I have two sons – so to a great de­gree I un­der­stand how Wil­liam and Harry felt,’ he says. ‘I re­mem­ber sit­ting in the hearse – it was also al­most as if it was rain­ing flow­ers. It was very poignant know­ing that each flower rep­re­sented the emo­tions of some­body in the crowd.’
