Dancing on Ice returns, three top new dramas and What’s Next For…
ITV’S skating extravaganza set to return after a four-year gap
There has been a huge entertainmentextravaganzasized gap in ITV’S January schedule ever since
Dancing on Ice came to an end in 2014 and the last sequin-clad celebrity skated off into the sunset. So when TV Times News heard that the colourful skating contest would be heading back to our screens, we were thrilled.
Here’s what’s in store…
When is it back?
The 10th series is set to air on ITV in early 2018.
Who is hosting?
This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will be back to oversee things once more. The pair originally hosted the show from its debut in 2006, before Christine Bleakley replaced Holly from 2012.
Will torvill and dean be returning?
Dancing on Ice really wouldn’t be the same without British skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, and while in previous series the Olympic gold medal-winning pair trained the celebrities, this time around they are rumoured to also be on the judging panel.
‘I love the fact that it’s coming back and I’m really looking forward to it,’ says Jayne. ‘The show will definitely be refreshed but the basics will be the same and we will continue teaching celebrities how to skate. It’s a different sort of platform in the studio, but we like to be creative and keep coming up with different things. There’s a new bar to set when the show returns.’
Which famous faces will be getting their skates on?
Although none of the celebrities who will be putting their dignity, and perhaps even their limbs, on the line have been officially confirmed, Antony Cotton, aka Coronation Street’s Sean Tully, looks to be a definite as he has already been spotted training on the ice.
Psychic Sally Morgan has also been snapped taking a spin round the rink, as has Scotland rugby player Max Evans.
Other celebrities reported to be getting kitted out with skates are Antony’s Corrie co-star Katie Mcginley (Sinead Tinker), model Katie Price, The Great British Bake Off 2016 winner Candice Brown, former royal butler Paul Burrell, presenter Toby Anstis, footballer Steve Gerrard’s wife Alex, Loose Women’s Saira
Khan, wine expert Olly Smith, comedian Stephen Bailey, cricketer Ebonyjewel Rainford-brent and Olympic skeet shooter Amber Hill. Roll on 2018!
