He fears his drug plot will be exposed when Rebecca calls a doctor for Lawrence
If he is found out, Robert will lose his position at Home Farm
With Lawrence continuing to be under the weather, Rebecca calls the doctor, which throws Robert in a panic. For the past few weeks, he’s been secretly drugging her father with sleeping pills, as part of his plot to take over Home Farm. Could he be found out?
‘Robert is enjoying having his feet under the table at Home Farm,’ explains Ryan Hawley, who plays him. ‘This is the opportunity to get the power he needs. To keep that going, he has to ensure Lawrence is out of the way or he won’t be able to manipulate Rebecca.’
The worried blonde thinks Robert’s a saint for coming to her ‘rescue’ and helping her run the estate. At the start of the week, she turns to him again and expresses her concerns about the state of Lawrence’s health and the business.
Robert feigns sympathy and tries to dissuade Rebecca from seeking medical help, saying he’ll have a chat with Lawrence and sort things out. But Rebecca’s fears rocket when they catch him drinking, and when Lawrence then falls asleep at the café, she takes Emma’s advice to get him checked out.
Robert’s rattled when he learns what Rebecca’s done, and has to act fast to avoid being rumbled.
He starts by trying to get an appointment at the doctor’s. When that fails, he shows up and makes out that he is there on Rebecca’s behalf. As he enquires about Lawrence’s blood samples, Emma explains that they haven’t been sent off – giving cunning Robert an idea...
‘Nobody knows that Robert has been putting drugs into Lawrence’s brandy,’ says Ryan, ‘and it has to stay that way. Robert’s got to think on his feet – if he’s found out, he’ll lose his position at Home Farm. That’s happened to him before, and he isn’t prepared to go through it again.’
What’s his plan? And will it work?’
