Real life / 8.00pm / W

No one, let’s face it, really wants to see the inside of an ambulance. But as W’s series about the West Midlands Ambulance Service returns for a second run, it’s undeniable that this is simple but gripping television. First up, a stabbing in Wolverhampton, where a man who was taking a short cut through a park has had a six-inch blade plunged into his head and back. If it’s punctured his lung he’s in trouble, and the hospital is 13 miles away. And 24-year-old Olivia is in an equally distressed state, but is the diarrhoea and vomiting causing her severe abdominal pain, or is it something worse? Continues tomorrow.

It’s an emergency: Paramedic Neil Weaver
