She contemplates suicide as she struggles with her baby secret…

TV Times - - My Tv Times Week -

Jean and Kat find her sitting on the balcony of a disused tower block

Blimey, Albert Square is a cheery place right now (not). We’ve got Mick Carter incarcerated in the kind of prison normally seen on a Ross Kemp documentary, Ruby Allen traumatised after being raped, and now Hayley Slater contemplating taking her own life. We’re almost starting to miss those ‘comedy’ scenes with Ian Beale and Masood. Almost.

Hayles is pregnant, and terrified she’s going to make a lousy parent. She’s also struggling with her big secret – that the baby’s ‘fava’ is Kat’s hubby, Alfie. With folk continuing to ask questions about the dad, she’s her usual ball of stress this week, and Jean inadvertently makes things worse by giving her a list of things she needs to buy before the birth.

Hayley’s confidence is boosted when she spends time with Mariam’s foster son, Harley. But when Mariam mentions how she cared for a child with foetal alcohol syndrome, Hayley’s racked with guilt for boozing. Things get messy when she then lets slip to Jean that she drank whilst in Spain…

‘The mention of Spain piques Jean’s suspicions about who the baby’s father is,’ reveals our Enders mole. ‘As Hayley storms off and turns to drink again, Jean does some investigating, and thinks she knows who got Hayley pregnant.’

The following day, it all gets too much for Hayles when Jean demands the truth, and she leaves the house to get some air. Jean worries when her niece fails to return, but when Keanu reveals that Hayley mentioned going ‘home’, Jean realises where she has gone.

‘Jean and Kat find Hayley sitting on the balcony of a disused tower block,’ adds our mole. ‘Kat assures Hayley that she’s a good person, but Hayley says she wouldn’t think that if she knew the truth.’

Jean eventually coaxes Hayley down, and takes her back to the Slater house. But as Hayley heads upstairs, she overhears Kat badmouthing her. Will Kat’s words cause Hayley to self-destruct?

Harsh: Hayley overhears Kat talking about her Paternity: Has Jean guessed Hayley’s secret?
