the royal Bri­tish legion’s Fes­ti­val of remembrance is par­tic­u­larly spe­cial this year, be­cause it’s broad­cast from the Royal Al­bert Hall on the eve of the Ar­mistice’s 100th an­niver­sary. Per­form­ing in front of the Queen and mem­bers of the Royal Fam­ily are guests in­clud­ing Sheri­dan Smith, Sir Tom Jones and Michael Palin. The BBC con­tin­ues the theme on Sun­day with cov­er­age from the Ceno­taph (10am), a spe­cial Songs of Praise (1.45pm, times vary), and a ser­vice from West­min­ster Abbey (5.10pm). ITV pays trib­ute on Sun­day with Bri­tain’s Pop­pies (9.30pm), while Sky Greats’ week­end of clas­sic war films in­cludes The Great Es­cape and Sav­ing Pri­vate Ryan.
