ev­ery Val­ley PiAS 8/10 lon­don trio tackle earth­ier mat­ters third time around For all its charms, there was a sus­pi­cion that 2015’s The Race For Space was a se­ries of thin mu­si­cal ideas propped up by great ar­chive sam­ples. Ev­ery Val­ley feels far more sub­stan­tial, as PSB’s amor­phous brand of prog, mo­torik and post-rock in­te­grates fully with BFI clips and first-hand in­ter­views as they de­tail the boom-to-bust story of the South Wales min­ing in­dus­try. Pathos and for­ti­tude are plen­ti­ful, not least in the sub­lime “They Gave Me A Lamp” (with haiku Sa­lut) and “Progress”, led by an emo­tive turn from Cam­era Ob­scura’s Tra­cyanne Camp­bell. The Man­ics’ James Dean Brad­field also fea­tures.
