The Usual Suspects 3MS MUSiC 7/10 Dub doyen’s stroll down memory lane The Usual Suspects finds bass colossus Jah Wobble and his band re-recording in a leisurely fashion some of the best-known tracks from his four decades in showbiz, a period straddling his time in PiL (“Public Image” opens this 2CD set) and solo success in the early 1990s (a serene “Visions Of You” appears). Wobble has long been the great interpreter, and once you settle into the Invaders’ steady cruise ship vibe, the flow of hits and covers – including the Midnight Cowboy and Get Carter themes and Dawn Penn’s “No No No” – becomes irresistible. These smooth edges still cut deep.
