I, Gemini, LEG’s 2016 debut, wasn’t easily categorised, being an idiosyncratic album made by two disarmingly alike teenage friends whose live performances featured ‘pat-a-cake’ choreography and tangential sax solos. What felt like daydream ideas in maturation then have been shaped into truly rounded songs now. Producers SOPHIE and Faris Badwan add industrial bombast to the K-pop of “Hot Pink”, while macabre ballad “Falling Into Me” morphs into a threatening club record. Just when it all could be mistaken for a newly approachable pop direction, they close with an 11-minute synth jam that references going “batshit crazy”.
