HARMONY ROCKETS WITH PETER WALKER

UNCUT - - New Albums - Jon dale

Lachesis/Clotho/Atropos TOMPKINS SQUARE 7/10 Mercury rev and friends, with special guest

In 1995, Harmony Rockets released a fantastic, overlooked psych-rock album, Paralyzed Mind Of The Archangel Void, and two years later, a cover of “I’ve Got A Golden Ticket” from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. As the alter ego for Mercury Rev at their most experimental, Harmony Rockets’ music has always felt open-ended and wide-eyed – here, with cult guitarist Peter Walker, ex-Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley and Wilco’s Nels Cline in tow, they’re back on that form, with two long, lovely drone-outs, buzzing and huffing around an eternal monochord, and “Atropos”, a gorgeous, deep, cosmic country comedown.
