Third album from Foo Fighters drummer’s side project

Hawkins’ last album as a bandleader appeared in 2014 under the name Birds Of Satan, but after a two-year world tour with Foo Fighters, he’s revived the Coattail Riders, last heard on 2010’s Red Light Fever. Drawing on a palette of classic Beatles/queen influences via plenty of heavy metal sturm und drang, Dave Grohl appears on four of the 10 tracks and the star-studded guestlist also includes Joe Walsh, Chrissie Hynde, Roger Taylor, an improbable (and barely recognisable) Leann Rimes plus ex-pistol Steve Jones on a joyous “Shapes of Things” rave-up à la Yardbirds.
