JIMMY SPICER
Rap pioneer (1958–2019)
Jimmy Spicer’s digressive epic, “Adventures Of Super Rhyme (Rap)”, helped form the foundations of hip-hop on its release in 1980. Having made his name at Brooklyn block parties, Spicer issued further singles, including 1983’s equally influential “Money (Dollar Bill Y’all)” and the Rick Rubin-produced “This Is It”, becoming one of the first signings to Russell Simmons’ management company.
