Memorial service for crash victim
THE victim of a crash near Uxbridge has been named locally as Ayesha Farooq.
The 23-year-old died at the scene of the incident which happened just before 7.50pm on Wednesday night, October 19, in Uxbridge Road, Iver.
On Friday afternoon, a memorial service was held at Diamond Road Mosque in Slough.
Miss Farooq died when the car she was driving, a silver Volkswagen Golf, was involved in a collision with a lorry and a blue Ford Fiesta near the Crooked Billet roundabout between Iver and Slough.
The male driver of the Ford Fiesta is being treated in hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
Police are trying to establish the cause of the crash and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Investigating officer, Sgt Tom Smith, said: “I would like to appeal for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information relating to it, to contact us on 101”
A petition has now been set up calling for traffic lights to be installed at the junction on the A412.
Between 2002 and 2012, there were 10 fatalities on the road. The tragic death of Miss Farooq comes just two days after a 40-year-old was killed close to the junction after his motorbike left the road.
