Memo­rial ser­vice for crash vic­tim

THE vic­tim of a crash near Uxbridge has been named lo­cally as Aye­sha Fa­rooq.

The 23-year-old died at the scene of the in­ci­dent which hap­pened just be­fore 7.50pm on Wed­nes­day night, Oc­to­ber 19, in Uxbridge Road, Iver.

On Fri­day af­ter­noon, a memo­rial ser­vice was held at Di­a­mond Road Mosque in Slough.

Miss Fa­rooq died when the car she was driv­ing, a sil­ver Volk­swa­gen Golf, was in­volved in a col­li­sion with a lorry and a blue Ford Fi­esta near the Crooked Bil­let round­about be­tween Iver and Slough.

The male driver of the Ford Fi­esta is being treated in hos­pi­tal after sus­tain­ing se­ri­ous in­juries.

Po­lice are try­ing to es­tab­lish the cause of the crash and are ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses to come for­ward.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer, Sgt Tom Smith, said: “I would like to ap­peal for any­one who wit­nessed this in­ci­dent, or who has any in­for­ma­tion re­lat­ing to it, to con­tact us on 101”

A pe­ti­tion has now been set up call­ing for traf­fic lights to be in­stalled at the junc­tion on the A412.

Be­tween 2002 and 2012, there were 10 fa­tal­i­ties on the road. The tragic death of Miss Fa­rooq comes just two days after a 40-year-old was killed close to the junc­tion after his mo­tor­bike left the road.
