Where did mannequin challenge originate?

Uxbridge Gazette - - NEWS -

SO exactly what is involved in this latest viral sensation?

It’s pretty much what it says on the tin. Everyone assumes a frozen (or shop mannequin) position while the person in charge of filming whizzes in and around each person.

The idea is to create a frozen moment in time. The more creative and different the poses, the better.

Its originality is pretty basic – some students in Florida posted the first Mannequin Challenge online followed by a string of high school kids in America.

The trend snowballed as sports groups across the world took up the challenge. America’s First Lady Michelle Obama and stars like Beyonce and Adele and even Paul McCartney getting in on the act, as well as the Metropolitan Police.

The videos is usually accompanied by the song Black Beatles by Rae Sremmurd as the soundtrack.

Unlike the Ice Bucket Challenge that took off in 2014, there is no connection between this internet craze and an affiliated charity.
