Al­li­son prom­i­nent lead­ers leapfrogged

MBBO RE­GIONAL 1 Ox­ford Hawks 2s 2 Eastcote 3 EASTCOTE went top with vic­tory over pre­vi­ous lead­ers Ox­ford Hawks 2s on Satur­day.

The Boars sit top on goal dif­fer­ence from Maiden­head after re­cov­er­ing from the shock of an early goal to de­feat their hosts.

Hawks went ahead on five min­utes from a short cor­ner, but Eastcote lev­elled 15 min­utes later after Mark Al­li­son con­verted a set-piece. He then turned provider with a cross flicked home by Jimmy Thomas to give the vis­i­tors a half-time lead.

John Ma­cleod’s rasp­ing re­vers­e­s­tick strike with 15 min­utes left gave Eastcote breath­ing space and de­spite a late goal for Hawks, the west Lon­don­ers held on to take the points.

Eastcote wel­come base­ment boys Walling­ford to Kings Col­lege Road on Satur­day.

The club’s sec­onds were cel­e­brat­ing too, after a great 6-4 win over pro­mo­tion chas­ing Ban­bury.

Braces for Kern Sorzano and Sam Hall led the way for Eastcote with David Cooper and James O’ Shea also get­ting on the score­sheet.

In South Club’s Hockey League Divi­sion 3A, Eastcote Ladies moved up a place to sev­enth after a 1-1 draw at home to Mil­ton Keynes. The vis­i­tors took the lead against the run of play in the first half but Cather­ine Ashton’s strike after the in­ter­val lev­elled mat­ters and with bet­ter fin­ish­ing, Eastcote would have won.
