CHILD patients at Hillingdon Hospital now have a pretty green space to enjoy.

The Peter Pan children’s ward garden has been renovated as is part of the final phase of the improvements to the paediatric facilities at the hospital.

The project began with the opening of the new children’s A&E in July last year, and then the new wing of the Peter Pan Ward in October.

The Deputy Mayor for Hillingdon, Councillor John Morgan, cut the ribbon on Tuesday last week to formally open the newly renovated garden for the Peter Pan children’s ward garden at the hospital in Uxbridge.

The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress were joined by hospital staff as well as young patients, their parents and carers, and guests who have made generous donations to the children’s ward funds.

The garden, which is already being used by children in the recent good weather, provides a space for children and parents to play and relax.

During his speech the Deputy Mayor commented: “What a fantastic garden we have got here.

“It really fits in with what Hillingdon Hospital represents – a health service that is here for everybody of all ages, and I do hope that everyone who stays on the children’s ward will get the chance to enjoy this facility.

“For adults what is best is coming outside and hearing your child laugh, having fun, and this garden here at Hillingdon couldn’t be a better place.”

The re-modelling of the garden has included the repair and replacement of some large play equipment such as a slide, swing and train which were funded through previous donations to the paediatric trust fund.

Some of the money donated twill be used to buy additional garden toys for the children to enjoy and plants for existing planters.
