TOFF’S POSH RETREAT
The blue window frames and front door of Rose Cottage in the Cornish town of Port Isaac have become very familiar to regular viewers of TV series Doc Martin. The property is in an area of the village famous for its narrow alleys and a higgledy-piggledy layout as historic fishermen’s cottages collide with each other behind the town’s high street.
Rose Cottage has also featured as the home of several characters in the hit ITV drama.
The show is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn and filmed almost exclusively in and around the houses and streets of Port Isaac, which has been instrumental in giving the series its distinctive look.
Rose Cottage has cashed in on this fame. The property has been let out for a long time as a holiday home and agent Yopa says it earns approximately £20,000 a year from visiting tourists.
Its owner, who lives in Guernsey, is now selling up and has put it on the market for £515,000. An additional £1,100 a year is payable for a parking space at the top of village, as the cottage is only accessible on foot.
It has three double bedrooms, two reception rooms, a kitchen with an AGA, and a small garden at the front plus a terrace at the back.
