Bulldozers or bust for our MP

Uxbridge Gazette - - Your Say -

FOLLOWING the government’s recent announcement, Uxbridge & South Ruislip Labour Party would like to reiterate that we are firmly against a third runway at Heathrow.

As the Hillingdon Labour group leader Peter Curling said last week, we want a better Heathrow not a bigger one.

Any further expansion would add to the already overcrowded skies in the borough, homes and communities would be destroyed, as well as a significant increase in noise and air pollution.

Our MP, Boris Johnson, has previously stated that he will ‘Lie down in front of bulldozers’ to stop a third runway.

However, we and local residents are used to his bold, brash words and lack of action and it seems he has three choices in the coming weeks.

He can stick to his opinion and vote against the runway, which would likely mean resigning as Foreign Secretary.

Alternatively, he can go back on his word and vote with the cabinet. His third choice, which he is rumoured to already be arranging, is to be out of the country on ‘other business’ on the day of the vote.

We look forward to seeing which choice he makes. James Clouting On behalf of Uxbridge & South Ruislip Labour Party
