Design heroes

VANTAGE - - Your View - Mark Scotchford

I read with interest your piece on designer Federico Formenti (Heroes, issue 16). I had always thought Peter Bernard Leeming had ‘designed’ the DB4, but I guess this is where the use of the term ‘design’ can become confused with other aspects of a car’s development. After doing a little more research, it seems Peter Leeming joined Aston Martin’s design team in 1956 and was involved in the development of the body and frame of the DB4, following the body style sketched by Federico Formenti.

So both Peter Leeming and Federico Formenti were two of the many reasons for the DB4 existing, and without whom it may have never happened.

Thank you for correcting my knowledge and adding the most important piece to an incredible picture: another example of the brilliance of Italian design fusing with English engineering.
