GOYTRE moved into second as they thrashed Haverfordw­est County 5-1 in a top-of-the-table clash in Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Division One.

Dan McDonald gave Goytre the lead before Josh Brown bagged a brace. Further strikes from Lewis Sommers and Blake Davies sealed a convincing win while Nicky Palmer netted a consolatio­n for County.

Meanwhile, Drew Fahiya netted a last-minute equaliser to keep Barry Town United’s title charge on track, as they drew 2-2 at home to Caerau Ely.

Chris Quick cancelled out TJ Nagi’s opener before Harry Short fired the visitors ahead. But Nagi set up Fahiya in the dying seconds to salvage a point for Barry Town United.

Elsewhere, Cwmbran Celtic climbed up to fourth with a 4-0 success at struggling Caldicot Town. Owen Cook found the net twice while James Campbell and Lloyd Kinsella added further goals to complete the rout.

Penybont remain two points further back after beating Cambrian & Clydach 3-1. Rhys Griffiths, Owain Warlow and Joe Hopkins were all on the scoresheet with Leon Jacka grabbing Cambrian’s goal.

Monmouth Town’s resurgence continued as they rescued a 2-2 draw against Port Talbot Town. Matthew Herman and Jonathan Hood strikes put Port Talbot 2-0 up inside 30 minutes before Brad Flay and Craig Lewis both struck to secure a point.

Elsewhere, Afan Lido scored twice in the final 10 minutes to beat Risca United 4-2, Goytre United beat Ton Pentre 2-1 and Undy Athletic were 3-2 victors over Taffs Well.

In Division Two, Llanelli’s lead at the top was cut to three points after they drew 2-2 with Croesyceil­iog.
