PEMBROKESH­IRE Cricket League leaders Carew tightened their grip at the top of the table with a thumping 132-run victory at Johnston.

Carew were first to bat and made a total of 239-6 with Tim Hicks hitting a superb 79 and Nick Scourfield 76 not out. Liam James took 3-79.

Johnston were then dismissed for just 107, Dan Sutton making a top score of 38 with Iori Hicks taking 3-1 and Tom Davies 4-48.

Cresselly travelled to Lawrenny and returned victorious by six wickets.

Lawrenny took to the crease first and were sent back for just 114, Joe Kidney making 51 and Rob Williams 28 with Neil Gregory taking 4-34 and Sam Harts 4-41.

Cresselly then scored 115-4 in reply, Iwan Izzard hitting an undefeated 36 and Scott Arthur 36.

The game between Neyland and Haverfordw­est ended in a draw after Haverfordw­est batted first and posted a total of 186-7, Danny Potter scoring 41 and Nikhil Mathias 40.

Neyland then scored 153-9 in reply, Paul Murray making a top score of 34.

The game between Whitland and St Ishmaels also finished in a draw after Whitland were first to take the crease and scored a total of 189, Will Spreadbury hitting a fine 71 with Andrew Palmer taking 4-50.

St Ishmaels were 171-8 in reply, Jonathan Pawlett scoring 51.

Kilgetty were victors at Pembroke by 35 runs after they batted first and made a total of 163, Ross Hardy making 28 with Barry Evans returning the impressive figures of 5-31.

Pembroke were then bowled out for just 128 in reply, Evans making an unbeaten 42 with Jon Harries taking 4-24.
