GET WELL SOON MESSAGES POUR IN FOR SIR TOM
INTO The Ark has led the deluge of good wishes sent Sir Tom Jones’ way after it was announced he’d cancelled his up and coming US tour due to ill health.
The Blackwood duo – who were due to support the Pontypridd legend on the tour which was due to kick off in Pennsylvania later this week – posted on Facebook that they hoped he’d get well soon.
The pair – consisting of Taylor Jones and Dane Lloyd – were mentored by Sir Tom on the most recent series of the ITV talent show The Voice and made it all the way to the final, only to narrowly miss out on the top prize.
They wrote: “Our thoughts are with Sir Tom and his speedy recovery – see you in May 2018.”
The veteran Welsh crooner released a statement on his website and social media pages on Friday evening.
It said: “Following medical advice, Sir Tom Jones has announced that he will unfortunately be postponing his US tour, which was due to commence in Bethlehem, PA on Wednesday 6th September.
“Dates are being re-scheduled for May and June 2018 and all tickets will remain valid for the new dates, details of which will follow as soon as possible.
“Tom sends his sincere apologies to his fans and looks forward to seeing them all again in 2018.
“Any customers wishing to get a refund should contact their point of purchase.”
It is unclear what health issue has led the 77-year-old to make the announcement.
The superstar had been on stage at the Royal Albert Hall earlier that same night as part of an all-star celebration of the renowned Stax Records label along with Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and soul greats such as Sam Moore and Booker T Jones.
Fans have been taking to social media to send the star their love.
One wrote on Facebook: “Get well soon Tom Jones.
“Even the greatest live performer needs to take time out. I look forward to hear you coming back and WOWING us with what you do so well.
“All the best to you, Mr Cool of Soul.”
Saxophone player Frank Waldren, who was due to appear in the singer’s US touring band, added: “Gutted not to spend next five weeks on road with @RealSirTomJones.
“Nobody though will be more disappointed than him. Get well soon!”
