DAN’S THE BEST BEST MAN
MEET Wales’ best best man. From helping his friend Gawain Rogers to meet his wife to constantly providing support to the couple – and also organising a surprise stag do for the groom in Prague, Dan Loughlin went the extra mile when it came to carrying out his duty.
And now, having been given the title of Wales’ best best man by stag and hen travel agent Red7, Dan is in the running to be crowned Britain’s best best man.
It was while on an evening out in Wrexham that Dan, 27, pointed to a woman across the bar who he’d noticed looking over at Gawain and told him: “You should talk to her.”
And six years later, Gawain walked down the aisle to meet his soon-to-be wife Lauren, who he’d met all those years ago thanks to Dan.
It was as a thanks for this and his years of support that Gawain decided to nominate Dan for Britain’s best best man in the online competition.
Now Dan is down to the final seven in the UK after securing the title of Wales’ best best man.
“He’s been there since beginning,” Gawain said.
“I lost my dad a few years ago and he was the first person who was there for me.
“He supported everything in the wedding and did much more than he was asked to do. He was just immense.”
In March, Dan organised Gawain’s stag weekend in Prague which he paid for alongside three other friends.
Gawain, who works as a warfare specialist in the Royal Navy, was told to book off the correct time the and then taken friends.
When it came to the big day, Gawain said Dan was one of only a few people who knew the couple were expecting their first child.
“He knew she was pregnant so made a huge effort to make sure she was OK and comfortable,” Gawain said.
And when Gawain finds himself away for work, he says Dan is always there to check on Lauren and help when needed.
Dan said: “I try to help them because he is more than happy to help others and put them first, so it is only right that he is the priority once in a while.
“Lauren is equally as amazing as she makes him so happy and puts up with his craziness.” to the airport by his
He added: “To know that he felt I had done a good job meant a lot to me. To know I have got down to the final seven and crowned best best man in Wales is absolutely incredible and is a massive shock.”
Founder of Red7 Ian Lucas said: “Today’s best man has a big job, but Dan and his fellow finalists have shown that they really made the role their own.
“Whittling down the entries was a tough task.
“Dan has done Wales proud and set a fine example of what a best man should be. I wish him the best of luck for the final of the competition.”
Dan, along with the six other finalists, will attend a luxury event in Brighton on September 22 where Britain’s best best man will be revealed.
