NA­TIONAL Cham­pi­onship win­ners Pon­ty­pool made it back-to-back vic­to­ries with a 27-24 suc­cess over newly pro­moted Tre­banos. Hav­ing beaten Rhy­dyfe­lin last week­end, Pooler trav­elled west and were given a tough game as Tre­banos only just lost out.

Tre­banos had trailed 17-3 at the break but fought back to claim a los­ing bonus point.

Ben Parry added to his try last week as he bagged a dou­ble with Rob Nash and Clay­ton Gullis also go­ing over. Kieran Meek took over kick­ing du­ties with two con­ver­sions and a penalty.

But Tre­banos pushed them all the way with Rhys Mor­gan and Luke Grif­fiths adding to a penalty try. Grif­fiths then kicked seven points as the One West Cen­tral cham­pi­ons just fell short.

Bed­dau also claimed back-to-back vic­to­ries as they won 29-24 at New­bridge.

Glenn Slater went over twice ,while Joe Casella and Leon Rogers helped earn a bonus point. Three con­ver­sions and a penalty for Hy­wel Chatham sealed the re­sult for Bed­dau.

Re­ply­ing for New­bridge were Lewis Hudd, Trevor James and Izaak Duffy while Ea­monn Rees kicked nine points.

Pro­moted Rhy­dyfe­lin got their first win of the sea­son with a 20-10 tri­umph against Skewen.

Jor­dan Rees and Ross Lu­cas claimed the tries for Rhy­dyfe­lin while David Grat­ton booted 10 points. Skewen’s points came from a Matthew Bil­let try and a con­ver­sion and a penalty from Ricky Buselli.

Else­where, Nar­berth were pushed aside as Cardiff Met en­joyed a bonus­point 32-15 vic­tory.

Tom Ben­jamin, Ben Holt, Rhys Gealy and Edoardo Balocco all crashed over while Ge­orge Simp­son kicked nine points and Tom Mor­gan added a penalty. In re­ply, Ianto Griffths booted a penalty and a con­ver­sion while Rhys Lane and Kieron Grif­fiths claimed tries.

In other ac­tion, New­cas­tle Em­lyn and Glyn­neath both bounced back from open­ing day de­feats.

Mike Jones led Em­lyn to a 24-19 vic­tory over Tata Steel with a brace while Steve Jones also claimed a try. Dan Davies then nailed three con­ver­sions and a penalty to se­cure all the points. Go­ing over for Tata were Lloyd Griffths, Dai Griggs and Bled­dyn Davies with two con­ver­sions from Geraint Llewellyn.

And Glyn­neath en­joyed a 16-13 suc­cess at Bedlinog, who are bot­tom of the ta­ble af­ter the open­ing two weeks.

Craig Ten­nant and Josh Fer­ri­man helped Glyn­neath to vic­tory with the help of Dy­lan Fran­cis’ two penal­ties.

Rhys Walker hit back for Bedlinog along with Dan Parry, who scored eight points.

Mean­while in One West Cen­tral, Maesteg Quins thrashed ri­vals Maesteg 41-3 to move top. Geraint Watkins led the charge with two tries while Lee Ro­nan, Adam Hil­lier-Rees, Nathan Smith and Scott Wil­liams all crashed over. Rho­dri Davies kicked four con­ver­sions and a penalty.

Tadhg McGuckin hit back with a penalty for Maesteg.

Bre­con stayed top of One East with a big 42-16 vic­tory over Blae­navon.

Adam Hoskins went over twice but Dar­ren Whit­combe, Iwan Wil­liams, Deri Wil­liams, Richie Davies and Lu­cas Jones all thun­dered over to claim the bonus point. Dean Gunter added gloss to the score­line with two con­ver­sions and a penalty.

And Tre­orchy sit proudly at the top of One East Cen­tral af­ter beat­ing Moun­tain Ash 28-23.

Will Grif­fiths, twice, Ja­cob Lloyd and Cur­tis Hughes got the tries for Tre­orchy while Jor­dan Lloyd added eight points.

Else­where, Adam Quill grabbed a hat-trick as Nant­garedig thrashed Peny­groes in Three West B while Gruff Roberts crashed over four times in Din­bych’s huge 98-6 tri­umph in Two North.
